The Oracle of Agur or the sayings of Agur, is a composition written by Agur, son of Jakeh. While the identity of Agur is unknown, he was obviously a wise man of sorts. His oracle is included in the Book of Proverbs, most likely added by the scribes of King Hezekiah as one of two postscripts to Solomon's maxims. In his oracle, Agur praises God, gives advice on various life matters and describes the characteristics of nature and humanity in numerical lists.
