Noadiah (Yah Has Met By Appointment), was a prophetess[1] who appears in the accounts of Nehemiah.

She appears in the prayer of Nehemiah to God regarding the people who try to hinder his efforts to rebuild Jerusalem, she is apparently one of those who made him afraid and threatened.

Though the implication of what Nehemiah meant in his prayers are not clear about Noadiah only that she was a prophetess who was ridiculing Nehemiah's life.

Etymology[]

From the verb עדה ('ada), to repeatedly pass by or encounter, and יה (yah), the name of the Lord.
