Early life[]

Nahor, along with his brothers Abram and Haran, were born when Terah their father, was 70.[1] Shortly after Genesis 11:26, the context gives the family of the children born unto Terah.

Nahor, married his niece Milcah, the daughter of his brother Haran who had just died in Ur of the Chaldeans.[2] Through his wife Milcah, they had children who were, Uz (the firstborn), Buz, Kemuel (the father of Aram), Kesed, Hazo, Plidash, Jidlaph and Bethuel, the father of Rebekah.[3] He also had children through his concubine Reumah, who were Tebah, Gaham, Tahash and Maakah.[4] Note that the time when Nahor's family was mention is after Abraham almost sacrificing Isaac, in Yahweh's command.[5]

Reference in Joshua[]

Joshua, in his final speech to the Israelite leaders assembled at Shechem, recounts of God's formation of the Israelite Nation, starting with "Terah the father of Abraham and Nachor, [who] lived beyond the Euphrates River and worshiped other gods".[6]
