Nahor I was the son of Serug and father of Terah.[1] Out of all the post-flood ancestors, Nahor was the youngest to have a child at the age of 29.[2] Nahor was also the youngest patriarch to have died at age 148.[3] He was outlived by all of his ancestors ihaving died before all his ancestors except Peleg, who died a year before him.. He is also an ancestor mentioned in the Gospel of Luke of the coming Messiah.[4][5]
Though his father, Serug, was of notable faithfulness to Yahweh, Nahor likely astrayed from his father's faith, he named his son Terah, (meaning: wanderer) which likely refers to the departing of his family.
