Jehoiakim (meaning "He Whom Yahweh has set up") was the second son of Josiah. His birth name was Eliakim. After his younger brother, Jehoahaz, died, Jehoiakim succeeded him and became king of the Southern Kingdom of Israel, Judah, which he ruled under the name of Jehoiakim.
