Hope is a firm assurance about things that are unseen and still in the future [1]. It comes from God, including His calling, grace, Word and gospel [2]. Character produces hope, which comes from perseverance produced by suffering [3]. Christians are to be joyful in hope [4].

Christians are not to put their hope in wealth but in God [5]. To hope in God is to trust Him, to be sure He will do what He says He will do. There are multiple promises to those who hope in the LORD. For example, those who hope in the LORD will have their strength renewed; they will soar on wings as eagles; they will run and not be weary, they will walk and not be faint [6]. Also, those who hope in the LORD will inherit the earth [7], just like the meek [8].
