Gath is a city mentioned several times in the Old Testament of the Bible. It was one of the five city-states of Philistia.[1][2] and like its counterparts, was ruled by a King and reigned over many satellite towns. The town is known for being a city of giants, most notably Goliath.[3] The city's inhabitants were called Gittites, a demonym of Gith.
