The Book of Ruth, simply called Ruth, is the eighth book of the Old Testament and, as such, of the Bible. It is a part of the Nevi'im. The book relates events that took place during the time of the Judges. The account follows the life of an Isralite named Naomi and her Moabite daughter in-law Ruthas they move back return to the town of Bethlehem in the tribe of Judah.
It was there that Ruth gleamed the fields of Boaz, a relative of her deceased husband. Boaz would marry her in order to redeem property owned by her husband. Their son, Obed , was grandfather to King David, and thus an ancestor of Jesus Christ.
