Daniel is the twenty-seventh book of the Old Testament and also the twenty-seventh book of the Bible. It tells of the prophet Daniel's work during the exile period in the courts of King Nebuchadnezzar, King Belshazzar, and King Darius. It also contains prophecies concerning things to come.

The Book of Daniel itself is categorized as a historical account, reporting on the events concerning Daniel and his interactions with King Nebuchadnezzar as well as overall Babylonian and Israelite history with Israel being under Babylon.


Daniel contains several prophecies concerning the prosperity of Nebuchadnezzar's status of King as Babylon and a foreshadowing of many empires to rise and fall.
