Abdiel is found in the Old Testament

Abdiel was a Gadite, the son of Chieftain Guni. He and his son Ahi[1] settled in the land of Bashan in the time of king Jotham of Judah in the mid-eighth century BC[2].

Etymology[]

The name Abdiel (Heb: עבדִיאל) means "servant of God"--from עבד (servant) and אל (a shortened form of אלהים, Elohim, used often in names).
